New Trees and Shrubs for the Triangle

Carol Baxter

Oct 1, 2026

Carol Baxter and Kris Haberman have been working with the Orangetown Highway Department to plant replacement trees and shrubs in the triangle just off Rte 9W to replace ones that were abruptly removed last fall. Redbuds, the largest trees available to the Highway Department, were planted in early September. A tree native to the Northeast, they have early spring flowers. The shrubs are Clethra, also a native plant, with flowers in the fall. New grass seed has also been spread to help cover the disturbed soil. Anyone interested in planting bulbs, please contact Kris Haberman.
