Roundabout Update

A lot remains to be determined regarding an upgrade to the intersection at the corner of Oak Tree Road and Route 9W in Palisades. While all agree the intersection needs significant improvement to address traffic and pedestrian concerns, the four million dollar proposal for a roundabout faces significant opposition from the community. In addition, the Town Board of Orangetown issued a unanimous resolution opposing it and State Senator Bill Weber requested NYSDOT pause the project to reevaluate.

The NYSDOT responded to 10964's request for an update with the following: “The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) is progressing on a project to enhance safety and improve traffic flow at the intersection of US Route 9W and Oak Tree Road in the Town of Orangetown. NYSDOT appreciates the input from the community and is preparing to host a forum in the fall regarding the proposed safety enhancements at this intersection.”
